Leap Day – Free Insurance Day!
Due to 2012 being a Leap Year and the addition of February 29 to our calendar, today is Free Insurance Day. How you ask? All policies that include February 29, 2012 within their policy term are really 366 day policies instead of 365 days – for no additional charge – aka FREE! Here are some Fun Facts about Leap Year:
- Egyptians were the first people to add a leap day every four years. However, the Romans were the first to choose February 29th as the official date.
- In 1288, Queen Margret of Scotland ordered that any man who was proposed to on Leap Year’s Day and refused the proposal could be fined either a kiss, a silk dress, or a pair of gloves that were to be given to the rejected woman. So, a woman who was extremely unpopular could fund her entire wardrobe by proposing to a lot of men she knew would refuse her.
- Astrologers believe that anyone being born on February 29th has unusual talents and personalities befitting of their special birth day.

Insuring Love!
It’s February which means love is in the air! How much love exactly? Well, four million couples are expected to announce their engagements this February 14th according to Yahoo Finance. That’s a lot of engagement rings being given! But what about insuring the ring? Putting a policy on your engagement ring may sound unromantic, but nothing’s sweeter than piece of mind. In 2011, the average price of an engagement ring was $5,200. Unfortunately, the standard Homeowners policy only provides $1,500 in coverage for jewelry, furs, watches, precious and semiprecious stones for loss due to theft only. So what can you do? There are several ways you can insure your engagement ring. Chrissy Jordan and Ryan Berg, our Personal Lines Account Managers, will be happy to discuss these options with you. Give them a call today!

Okay, so maybe not, but he did get a chance to shoot some hoops on their court!
