Thinking Of Adding Earthquake Coverage?
With many devastating earthquakes happening around the world lately, there is just cause for considering earthquake coverage to protect your personal property or commercial assets.
It may surprise you to learn that South Carolina is at a high risk for a major quake, particularly around the coastal area.
Earthquake coverage is typically purchased as an endorsement or as a separate earthquake policy. Homeowner, condo and renter insurance policies generally do not cover damage caused by an earthquake.
Ideally, your earthquake policy should cover the cost to replace or repair damaged property. Your agent can help you decide what is the right amount of coverage and can give you comparison quotes.
Generally, older homes and buildings cost more to insure. Wooden homes get better rates than brick (surprise!) because wood tends to withstand quake stresses better.
