Are You Insured Against Business Data Theft?
Unfortunately, the news stories of breached data security are far too commonplace. In today’s cyber world, it’s more important than ever to protect your company against data theft.
The trouble is, traditional insurance products—such as general liability, property, business income and crime insurance—are designed to protect tangible items, and do not adequately cover data information which is considered intangible.
The good news is that HBB represents companies that offer cyber risk plans to help businesses cover costs incurred to restore the data, including lost income. There are also plans that cover liability, helping you cover costs incurred by others who are victimized by the theft of your data.
Contact us today at 864 527-0424 to discuss customizing a cyber insurance policy that best fits your business needs.
How to Have a Happy…and Safe Halloween:
To help families and businesses have a good time and protect themselves against scary Halloween risks, HBB offers the following safety tips:
- Prevent Accidents: To avoid injury, remove or move lawn furniture, or any other obstacles, and insure your home’s entry is free of loose or broken pieces on stairwells and walkways.
- Fire Dangers: Pumpkins containing candles should be placed at a distance where a child’s costume cannot be ignited or where a curious guest may tip it over. Extinguish all candles before going to bed.
- See and Be Seen: Trick-or-treaters and chaperones should carry a flashlight and apply light-reflecting material to costumes. Drivers should drive slowly and watch for children who may be running across streets or wearing dark costumes.
- Unwelcomed Guests: Scare away potential property vandals who often use the chaos of Halloween night to strike by keeping outdoor lights on.
- Pet Safety: Keep pets inside. Also, warn your children to stay away from animals as they go door-to-door. Halloween night can be stressful, even for the friendliest of pets.
- Candy Inspection: Check all candy and throw away any suspicious candy. Never eat unwrapped items, and collect candy only from those you know.
Is Flood Insurance Right For You?
Due to recent flooding in the Upstate and Mountain areas, we felt it was
important for our clients to realize that flood insurance isn't just for people living along the coast. According to the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP), 31 percent of the properties damaged by floods are located outside of a special flood hazard area as designated by FEMA.
Anyone can carry a flood policy, whether you are in a flood zone or not. Your standard home insurance policy will cover losses caused by water that accumulates in the home resulting from the accidental discharge of a system of appliance, such as a broken hose or valve. But it will not cover losses caused by water that accumulates as a result of the overflow of a body of water or runoff of surface water.
Because it is a separate policy from your home, condo, or business insurance. flood insurance is subject to its own terms and conditions. Your Trusted Choice® experts at HBB, are ready to help you determine if flood insurance is right for you and to explain the terms of coverage.
